I guess you mean another "grenade" as I have heard them called on many occasions!
Sorry just could not help myself as my mate has just found his 3Lt patrrol is up for a new engine at 130,000 km. Not good I am afraid.

3 litre engine is just too small for a full size touring wagon wether you are towing or not IMHO. The best way to improve
performance is trade it in on a landcruiser before it blows up.
Its a great pity that Nissan did not have enough sense to keep the 4.2 going in what is otherwise a great tourer. Hard to believe they only put them in the utes still.

thanks Wooly for the offer,,, unfortunately Nissan are not brave enough.... Toyota sounds good but 30K more is not worth it....

Only had one friend fit (had fitted) a Ditronic and it did work out , although the 3lt is already low on low end torque and the box seemed to just give it more higher up.
The overall feel was of a peakier engine (doesn't matter much if an auto), with a little worse consumption.
The 4800's do really solve a lot of those problems in one hit Charlie.
You might even save money - depending on use/model etc.
